What Is Really There?

One muggy summer morning I was staying at my grandma-grandma's house. Everything was peaceful in her one story, two bedroom home. It was Saturday so I just stayed curled up under my fuzzy quilt. I nestled myself into the warm secure bed with a good book. My book wasn't even close to scary! My mom tried to think it was making me scared. I was by myself because grandma-grandma was out with a new co.-worker. So I settled back reading very intently.
All of a sudden I heard a drawer skim open in my grandma-grandma's room I thought nothing of it. I continue reading being pulled into the book. Then again I was ripped from the story to feel another drawer open slowly as if someone was trying to be quiet. Then another and another open until it stopped.
Everything became suspiciously quiet, but then another noise made it to my concentrating ear. This time I could feel low-key turtle-like footsteps in the hall like icy fingers sliding down my back. Now I was terrified. My heart just refused to beat. My breath became quick. I was shaking so bad my stomach hurt.
When everything got quiet again I could heard a slow, steady, deep breathing outside the door. I could just lay there paralyzed of fear. My heart had launched beating faster and faster. It was going about the speed (if not faster) of a racer car driver. Then all of a sudden... Creeeeeeak!
My heart skipped a beat. I wasn't facing the door, but I could feel a unfeeling, sluggish breathing down my neck. There was someone behind me. I could smell evil in each breath, I could feel beady eyes searching for its next kill.
I stayed there for what seemed like hours. I was trying to get enough courage to turn over and see what was there. I was trying also to look like I was reading my book. The whole time thinking it might go away. That evil, icy breath continued down my neck and into my spine. It numbed every bone in my quivering body. I finally decided to roll over, so I took a deep breath.
Time seemed to stand still. I don't know how but I managed to roll
over.
The moment I rolled I realized what was there. I stared straight up at
"hollow man"! There was nothing there! I couldn't believe it I swung my
legs off the bed. I took a drink of water, and stood up. I quickly glance
into the other rooms. Everything was undisturbed.
