Family Room Ghost

I have been living in my house for about 7 years. My husband and son (and my son's friend) all claim to have seen what I have. It always happens in the family room (basement) of the house. I never knew what to call it (them) for I never experienced anything like it.

I would always be watching TV and would see something out of the corner of my eye. When I turned, it was gone. Other times, I would see a ball of blackness (like a shadow) hurling from the laundry room to past where I was sitting in the family room. The light also would flicker and sometimes go out. I attributed these occurrences to the 1) the light of the television playing tricks with my eyes 2) a faulty light socket -- gotta get that fixed and 3) being tired.

Well that was before I knew my husband and son also saw these same things. My son and his friend would be in the family room playing drums and these shadows would appear. I have seen it out of the corner of my eyes but my son has seen it as he looks up from his drumset. It appears in the doorway between the laundry room and family room. His friend saw it and said it looked like a man wearing a hat to him. However, it just looks black and flat to me. or like little dancing specks of black. My son says he never is afraid, doesn't yell at it to go away, but only says "Hi". My husband also sees the same things I have (on different occasions).

One day, I was in a really bad mood and was in the family room, folding laundry and watching tv. I said the air, "If you appear, good, then you can help me with the laundry! I'll put you to work if you show up here again!". Well, I haven't seen any more shadows for about 2 months now. I wonder if this shadowghost doesn't like to do housework.

I swear this is a true story. If it appears again, I'll let you know.
