When I was a child, I had a very strange and terrifying experience. I think it was a ghostly intruder, but I was never sure. To this day I still wonder about it. I remember being asleep. It was late at night, and I always slept with a nightlight on. I was maybe 6 years old at the time. My bedroom door was adjacent to my bed, so if I was lying in bed facing the door, I could look down the hallway and see the doors to my parents' room, my sisters room, the bathrooms, and the top of the stairway. I was very much asleep but I awaoke because I heard someone quietly coming up the stairs. They were hardwood steps, so they squeaked in certain places, and were very hard to be "silent" on. I heard someone slowly coming up. I could hear the regular snoring and sleep-breathing of my parents, and my sisters door was closed.

My nightlight was on the wall right next to my bed, and it cast a little glow into the hallway. Otherwise, it was very dark. I was clutching my teddy bear tightly, as I was afraid. I could see someone's shadow as they were about to reach the top of the stairs. I don't know what possessed me, but I jumped out of bed and jumped on this person. I found myself looking down into the barrel of a gun... and weird thing was, it was glowing inside. I dropped my teddy bear and was paralyzed with fright. This man pointing the gun at me told me to get back in bed, and to be quiet, and not to tell anyone about him or he would come back and kill me. Then he was gone.

The next thing I remember, I was staring into my nightlight. I thought I must have been dreaming. I thought I woke up after a bad dream.. but I didn't repeat it to anyone, remembering what the man told me. I don't remember him leaving or making any other sounds. I don't remember his face or anything about him except his gun. I didn't sleep much the rest of the night. I was still afraid. When I got up in the morning, I asked mom if any of the doors or windows were open or unlocked. She looked at me oddly and said no. Then she asked me why my teddy bear was found in the hallway that morning!!
